The first half of 2012 stands at the Bavarian State Opera was designed for Richard Wagner: The 4th February marks the premiere of Das Rheingold, the prelude to the new production of Der Ring des Nibelungen . Within just five months, the Bavarian State Opera brings Wagner's magnum opus, the "biggest challenge for any opera house" ( Nikolaus Bachler ) on the stage. At the Munich Opera Festival in July 2012, the complete tetralogy will be seen in two cycles. director Andrew Castle War , General Music Director Kent Nagano and the state director Nikolaus Bachler said on 19 January on the new production of the tetralogy.
